New Jersey LAP Roundup
This week’s feature LAP program is the New Jersey Lawyers Assistance Program (NJLAP). Its purpose is “to provide assistance to attorneys, members of the judiciary, law students, and law graduates with alcohol, drug, gambling, emotional, behavioral and other personal problems that affect well-being and professional performance”. NJLAP offers confidential consultations, practice assistance, and support groups.
NJLAP actually has a family of websites devoted to different services: in addition to their main site, there’s also the confidential help resource page, where lawyers can ask a question anonymously in a message forum, and the judges assistance program page.
NJLAP.org includes a wealth of information on gambling, stress, alcohol & drug abuse, depression, and quitting smoking. There are also special sections for law students and for women.
NJLAP’s toll-free support line is 1-800-24NJLAP.
